!!Neighbourhood Policing Commander Update - East Leicester News!!

 So the summer holidays have come to an end and children are returning to school and here at East Leicester we are starting to put in place significant preparation for the upcoming cultural, community and celebratory events be that Remembrance Sunday, Diwali, Nagar Kirtan, Bonfire Night and many others!

 We have had the usual increase in Anti Social Behaviour from children during the summer period but not to the levels of previous years so thank you to everyone for ensuring that socially acceptable behaviour is reinforced and naughtiness dealt with. We've certainly had some unsavoury behaviour and I'm proud of the multi-agency approach to this and the incremental approach taken to deal appropriately!

 Unfortunately alongside this we have also had the usual spike in acquisitive crime with shoplifting increasing and a disappointing amount of jewellery stolen from our communities by those who appear to have no care for hard work or ownership. Communications have gone out and it is great that so many listened to advice around limiting what they wear but it is still clear that others are willing to take advantage.

 In the last few days after a significant amount of work working with numerous other forces we have managed to arrest six persons for the offences of Robbery across Leicestershire and they are right now in custody answering questions for us and others nationally.

 In regards to the shoplifting we are cognisant of the challenges out there in the world which can cause people to struggle and we will always work with those who need support but this will never justify theft. Only yesterday working with the local beat teams, shopkeepers and community intelligence we have acted arresting two persons finding a significant amount of goods which we are now working hard to identify where it has come from.

 Coming up we have the Local Independent Advisory Group meeting where we will continue to discuss issues raised around the littering/fly tipping in local water courses and a number of traffic issues around the area which we will work alongside the council to try to manage.
